Beelzebub, while branded as the devil of gluttony, is much more befitted for the sin of wrath or violence. The first thing anyone would notice upon meeting him is how well he's perfected the art of completely ignoring someone's existence. The second thing they would notice is how quick he is to drag someone's ass across a table and throw them away. He's a man who knows what he wants and will gladly crack some skulls open to get it done.

Underneath his very hard, mean exterior though is someone who's totally socially incompetent and awkward. While not afraid of talking to people, he hates crowds and large gatherings. Lucy was the only person ever able to get him to lower his guard and bring out a jarringly softer side of him, though he put up a fight when it came to Lucy's first attempts at befriending him.

After Lucy was ripped away from everyone by Raziel, Beelzebub himself practically disappeared too. He became a complete shut-in and isolated himself from people he already barely had a relationship with. He stopped taking care of himself and became a complete and utter mess for the next two thousand years he was left alone, even though he was the next best in line to take Lucy's place as their figurehead leader of Hell.

The once strong, seemingly unbreakable Beelzebub, was left in complete and utter shambles after Lucy was taken from them all. No one saw him for the nearly entire 2,000 years Lucy was gone for. He locked himself in his home and only ever came out to go on hopeless searches for Lucy anywhere and everywhere - In Hell, on Earth, throughout the greater universe - the only place he couldn't look was Heaven, but even then he would've heard something if she was there. Every single attempt lead to dead ends.

At the first news of Lucy supposedly suddenly being seen somewhere, Beelzebub was there and was practically glued to Lucy's side the entire time after that. Before he could really help Lucy settle back down and help show her how different things are compared to when she was taken, they're interupted by the horseman of death, "Abaddon", who has come to deliver the news to them that the beginning of the end times are in motion.

Unlike Lucy, Beelzebub has little care or regard for humanity. The news of their soon-to-be destruction unphased him, though it seemed to shatter Lucy. Beelzebub tried to tell Lucy about humanity's hatred of them all, how any attempt to stop this would be futile, and, most importantly, how is she supposed to try and do anything when she can barely walk or talk right? Unfortunately for him, though, Lucy is also incredibly set in her ways and was hardset on doing something, anything. He relented eventually and agreed to help her, too afraid to let them go off alone in the state they were in and possibly disappear again.
